Summary
Kellie Martin stars in this television adaptation
of Catherine Marshall's novel about a young lady named Christy Huddleston.
Christy is a 19-year-old woman who leaves her hometown of Asheville,
North Carolina in 1912 to become a teacher at a missionary school in the
remote Tennessee Appalachian town of Cutter Gap. Here, she meets a host
of unusual characters, including the strong-willed Alice Henderson (Tyne Daly), young
Reverend Daniel Grantland (Randall Batinkoff) and the charming but mysterious
Dr. Neil MacNeill (Stewart Finlay-McLennan). Then,
in the year 2000, the PAX television station produced a continuation of
the popular CBS series. While several familiar faces resurface, including Stewart Finlay-McLennan as Dr. Neil MacNeill,
it features Lauren Lee Smith in the title role as Christy. The entire series offer many
positive lessons of life and love, and pleasantly offer a positive view
of the Christian faith in mainstream media.
