Summary
Trevor Nunn's 1996 "Twelfth Night" is a delightful
adaptation of William Shakespeare's
play about a humorous love triangle that ensues when a young woman disguises herself
to be a boy after she is shipwrecked and believes her brother to be dead.
Imogen Stubbs plays Viola, who upon believing that her twin brother is
shipwrecked, disguises herself as a boy. While in disguise, she falls in love
with the Duke of Illyria (Toby Stephens), who himself is desperately in love with the
beautiful Olivia (Helena Bonham Carter).
Meanwhile, Viola's lost twin brother (Steven Mackintosh) winds up in Illyria and adds
to the confusion. A delightful adaptation of which the Bard would have been proud!
