Summary
This film is a fictional story which centers around a young William Shakespeare (Joseph Fiennes) who spies a new young actor named Thomas Kent, who is actually Viola de Lesseps (Gwyneth Paltrow) dressed as a boy. When the young author discovers Viola's true identity, he learns that she is also promised in marriage to the cold-hearted Lord Wessex (Colin Firth). Their forbidden affair provides the inspiration for the Bard's tragic play, "Romeo and Juliet."
