Summary
Andrew Davies "Northanger Abbey" adapts one of Jane Austen's lesser known novels about a
young woman named Catherine Morland (played by Felicity Jones), who has a insatiable appetite for
Gothic romance and mystery novels. Her life at home is peaceful and uneventful, but when she is invited to Bath by close family friends,
she begins her own adventure. In Bath, she meets charming John (William Beck) and Isabella Thorpe (Carey Mulligan). Isabella is to be engaged to Catherine's
brother and John begins to pursue Catherine. She also finds friendship in Henry Tilney
(J.J. Feild) and his sister Eleanor (Catherine Walker). But when she is invited to
stay at Northanger Abbey, home to General Tilney (Liam Cunningham) and his family, Catherine's imaginations
begin to run wild. General Tilney's wife passed away unexpectedly and Catherine
begins to fear the worst. Will she solve the mystery of Northanger Abbey and find true love in the process?
