Summary

An orphan cast aside by her aunt, Mrs. Reed, and sent to be raised in a harsh charity school for girls, Jane Eyre (Charlotte Gainsborough) eventually learns to become a teacher and finds employment at Thornfield Hall. As a governess, Jane finds herself falling in love with Edward Fairfax Rochester (William Hurt), the mysterious master of Thornfield, whose painful secrets threaten Jane's happiness. Director Franco Zeferelli offers an elegant and simple adaptation of the dark, romantic novel by Charlotte Bronte.
